Learning Assessment Modules
The learning assessment modules that have been developed by Kia Māia are based on a modular design format developed by the former Department for Courts and now in use by the Ministry of Justice. The department’s programme, ‘Tika Tonu ’ was developed for Courts by Alex Holes (Director Organisational Treaty Responsibilities) to assist staff to increase their use of te reo Māori and understanding of Māori worldviews. ‘Tika Tonu’ used Te Rito as its base information source. Kia Māia has adapted the department’s modular learning system and further developed it to suit a wider government audience.
We are very grateful to the former Department for Courts and the Ministry of Justice for allowing us to share their programme design with other users of Te Rito. He mihi mīharo tēnei ki te Tāhū o te Ture me a Alex mō te tautoko e pā ana ki tēnei kaupapa.
The Kia Māia learning assessment modules consist of twelve modules for participant completion, as well as commencement and completion profiles which will help you (and your manager, if you are conducting this training within a formal context) assess your progress. We welcome your feedback to alexandra@kiamaia.org.nz on any aspects of the modules or any other comment you might have on the content of Te Rito (please contact your IT team with any technical questions, and you may also want to ask them for headphones before starting your training if you work in an open plan situation).
All these modules can be downloaded by current licensees of Te Rito, provided that Copyright is respected. It would be worthwhile keeping them together so that you can refer back to them as you need to. You will also need to create some flashcards to assist with your pronunciation tutorials.
Ko tā māua tūmanako, kia pai tōu mahi e pā ana ki ēnei tauira – we hope your lessons go smoothly and that you enjoy your Te Rito experience!
